Mirrors Edge in 8-bit!

Wanna play Mirrors Edge on your Ouya with sweet 8-bit graphics? Well here is some great news Vector has been in the Ouya store for quit some time after migrating over from Android/IOS where it has 100,000’s of downloads.

You are trying to get away from the corrupt corporation that rules the world. There are coins to collect and new moves to master in this forced running game (you can’t stop and I wouldn’t suggest slowing down.)

During the development of Shadow Fight … we created our in-studio 3D animation software “Cascadeur“, which allows us to make physically correct, realistically looking animations. Oleg Egorov

Right away I was grabbed by the opening cut scene where you see the protagonist (a black shadow) running from soldiers. The game is played using the left joystick for moves and is dependent on time. You hit up to jump, down to slide, and forward to pick up speed. It’s simple run away from the people chasing you, all the while learning new moves from a cheetah to a lazy roll. You’ll be ducking jumping dodging and vaulting to your death (I know I did.)

Conclusion

I love this game personally, I dig the music and the graphics remind me of all my favorite childhood platformers. Similar to Canabalt HD, this game should give you alot of good replay opportunities. With a great storyline, and my favorite graphics style I can’t suggest this game enough if you like casual games.

Quick to learn, hard to master.

If the developers could make this somehow 2 players there is no way this game shouldn’t make it up to, and stay, in the top 10. I give this game 8/10 extra lives.

About Tim Beltran

Timothy Beltran aka DontFeedTheTrolls has been gaming as long as he has been walking. His first gaming system was a Sega Genesis with Tasmanian Devil and SegaCD, but that was just the beginning. He has invested hundreds of hours on games from Sega, NES, SNES, Dreamcast, GC, GBA, C64, Atari, Xbox, Xbox360, PSx/2, PS3, Windows 95, 98, XP, 7, Android/IOS, and now Ouya. Tim's favorite games include: Phantom Dust(TCG), the Pokemon series (RPG), Advance Wars(TBS), Kirby All-Star(Adventure), Super Mario Sunshine(Adventure), The Sonic series (platformers). While he has not been gaming as long as the other writers here at DOTO he has just as many opinions, he will also be doing mods, do it yourself hacking, and other spotlights on tech demos such as XBMC, Emulators, and sideloaded tools/apps. Tim's favorite games are multiplayer with HIGH replay value as well as casual gameplay. If you enjoy spending your game time winding down and playing with friends you will probably agree with his (albeit twisted) view on games.

I really like this game, the style, concept and gameplay…but It is just too hard! If it had difficulty settings and I could play on “easy” I would buy this in a heartbeat, but as it is I can’t get past the second level.
