Papo & Yo is coming for the OUYA!
In Papo & Yo you follow the story of a boy named Quico and his best friend Monster, a huge pink beast with an addiction to poisonous frogs. If Monster is devouring a frog, he’s caught by rage and is a danger to everybody arround him. You have to scramble away quickly or you take the most damage. A piece of fruit must be found immediately to calm down Monster. But Quico still has no fear and goes on a dangerous search to find a cure for his friend.
You have to solve puzzles with the help of your friend. Quico can use Moster to reach rooftops by jumping off his belly or to hold down pressure plates. But the frog addiction of Monster gets worse during the game and so do the rages.
You wander through a magical world where Quico can conjure objects out of the air. Quico has to learn to use the different emotions of Monster to solve the tasks of the journey.
Monster is a metaphor for the alcoholic father of Vander Caballero, the lead designer of the game. When Monsters rages get worse, Quico has to make a decision.
The game mechanics are a little rough and the puzzles, often one tick to obvious, provide no great challenge for the skilled adventurer. The disturbing subject however will linger in the memory of every player.
Not an ordinary game! Definitely worth your time!
